Gearing Up For Success: My 60 Day Challenge, Your Chance To Win!!!!

It's Time To Put In
WORK

Putting in Work: My earlier work laid out in gift boxes.
"Build so that when your eventual audience becomes ready to find you, your presence will already be established. So, ALWAYS have your online presence updated and ready for SHOWOFF". It may be your only chance to make that first impression.
-Yours Truly,
Porchia

I am beginning to notice that I may no longer be able to keep my jewelry artistry as a hobby. I truly love making jewelry, everything from feeling the beads and textures down to choosing the tiniest element to finish off my pieces. The thing that has rung so very true in this small industry is that, if people want it, you will find yourself accommodating those request(s) by no intentional fault of your own. You'll just notice that you are making jewelry more frequently and that people are willing financially support your work (sales). I initially began selling wholesale jewelry that was very unique in styling however, I ceased with that activity as I wanted to have more control over pricing and I truly wanted to know what I was selling my clients. I couldn't speak to the pieces I was selling and this in some way, caused unrest in my mind. So, I held out for a while to think of how I could tread these waters to have jewelry in my life, but on my terms. It took some time to find this out but sooner than my vision could foresee, the work came along.....

I visited a beauty supply store in my local area and became a little irritated about how poorly made but simple in construction a pair of earrings I decided to purchase were. I thought then, let me try my hand at this to see if I can work to make a better product for myself. I purchased a $6. jewelry tool set. That's as far as I got at that time. Several months later, I would decide to visit JoAnn's for some inexpensive acrylic beads. I knew nothing about the coordination of beads and what would be appealing to most. I wasn't sure what I wanted and how I wanted my jewelry to look. I would meet a woman standing not to far away who would introduce me into the world of a million beads and the art that is, jewelry making. The rest of this......well, you see where we are right now. I  began to build. I still have far to go.....

My earlier work & photo (2009)
I've put in much work from the beginning and I am so very curious to see, with a little harder, more strategic work, where I may end up next. I have been amazed at what I've accomplished thus far! I have declared, it is time for me to "put in work". The recent sale from the lovely Monica Pearson, anchor for WSBTV, Channel 2 Action News, bestowed up me a rush like you wouldn't believe! After learning this, I've pondered heavily how did that happen and if I'd put the work into making myself a little more visible, could  this become a more frequent occurrence? It's time for me to take a more critical look into my work and direction. All of us have a gift. The very entity that separates "us" from "them", the individuals who are out there making a living from their gifts is their internal belief, strength and their application to get out there and just do it, failure, success and all. The funny thing about that is, half the time, you will notice that their work is no better than yours. They have the guts and the strategic planning to make it happen and are uninhibited. So, I cannot even become frustrated. At this time, I am going to give myself a bit of test, if you will, and I am going to open up the doors for each of you to monitor this test of progression and see, if I am improving upon making moves within my passion of jewelry artistry. The moment you start is the moment you are taking that first step and that's the hardest part. I would love for each of you to become a part of the journey with me and see this growth.

My current work, 2012. World Tour Mosaic Turquoise Necklace
This will be interesting. I have experienced some highs and some lows. My lows are what allowed me to think outside of the box creatively and to try a different direction. I, you, we and everyone need failure, at some point. Failure is what we learn from to become better and stronger. We don't learn from success, necessarily. So, take your failures as a huge pat on the back to try again.  I am challenging myself  to either  begin, complete or finish (finishing is ideal) the projects I set myself up to do. Sometimes, we seriously need to continue pushing ourselves when no one else is around and I am up for the challenge.

Thank you in advance for your participation and I look forward to the next 60 days of this challenge.  I can't wait to meet and interact with each of you. The world wide web is an amazing invention filled with endless possibilities.... and it's giving me the chance to meet new and wonderful individuals.

Always.....remain inspired...

Sincerely,
Porchia
